Hi,
I am a South African, descendant from German immigrants.
I love this country with all its diversity in so many aspects, and returned here following an almost 12 year stint in the UK. In the 90’s I attempted to live in Germany. That lasted 4 months.
There currently is brewing unrest here (again) and whereas some people are totally stressed about it, I am possibly more interested to see how things will pan out this time.
Despite having definite opinions about most things, I actually enjoy it when preconceived judgements by myself and others are proven wrong.
I have a broad array of interests, but rarely hang on to details. This is particularly applicable to historic events and technical information. I do not care for medical conditions and certainly not what pills to swallow for which ailment.
I have bouts of keeping fit, currently I am not. Swimming has been a major part of my fitness activities, because the feeling of immersing myself in water does wonders for my earth sign.
I also thoroughly enjoy yoga, but only as far as the physical and calming effects are concerned. The spiritual side of yoga does not entice me.
As I moved away from “civilisation” several months ago, I am currently not able to walk any Parkruns. And the recent foot&mouth scare meant we were not allowed to go for walks on any farms surrounding us until recently. I changed my weekly habits as a result and haven’t gotten back into walking again, especially not as all my trainers were recently stolen during a break-in.I was raised in the Evangelical Lutheran faith, but never practised any particular religion from the age of 17. In my view things spiritual are a personal matter and I do not wish to participate in a club-like environment where my spiritual health is concerned.
Despite having pets, I am no fanatic. They also do not prevent me from getting on my motorcycle and doing short trips. Tar riding is my preference, as I cannot comprehend why people insist on going off-road, to then spend hours afterwards discussing who came off the most, the worst, the funniest.
I find the biking community as diverse as any other, despite particular groups “migrating” together.I was laid off (again) in October 2024 and have had to re-invent and contemplate my life and especially choices, since then. The qualifications I obtained over the years, led to me landing good jobs with decent pay, however my heart was rarely in most of them. Therefor, I am re-inventing my life.
It would be grand to connect with people from all over the world who could enrich my life with interesting and meaningful conversation, and to whom I could hopefully reciprocate.
